Design Is the Last Thing AI Can't Fake
When anyone can make something look good, the only design that matters is the kind that reflects a real decision.
For a long time, good design was hard to make, so it worked as an advantage. That's done. Polished visuals are basically free now, and your competitors have the same tools you do.
So what's design actually for? I think it's the last honest thing left. When anyone can produce a clean layout and a nice gradient, the only design that stands out is design that came from a real choice. A layout that's simple because someone decided what to cut. A flow that feels natural because the team understood something specific about how their customer thinks. A voice that's consistent because the company actually knows what it believes.
You can spot copycat design instantly because it has no reason behind it. It's just patterns that worked for someone else, glued together. Real design reads as coherent because every choice goes back to a point of view.
That's why design matters more now, not less. It's about making your thinking visible, not just making things look good, because the generator wasn't there when you decided who you are.
